UMST & Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Joint Project

UMST was visited by JICA group of workers to discuss a joint project for improving Maternal and Child health utilising ultrasound equipment. The UMST will be training 300health personnel e.g. family physicians, nurses, and midwives for a period of 3months. in use of ultrasound for early diagnosis of pregnancy complications resulting in early referral and early management. This will minimise maternal mortality and adds to the well-being of mothers and neonates. Each participant will be provided by a free ultrasound machine to use in his/her health facility. Thus the diagnostic ability will be improved in 300 health facilities in Sudan to promote maternal health. The project period will be April 2015-April 2017.
