The video of the launch of the second edition of the Global MBA in Impact Entrepreneurship has been selected as the video of the month by E4Impact Foundation, UCSC, Milan.
A symposium on “How the national pharmaceutical industry will contribute to the Provision of Medicines” was organized by the Forum of “Rehab Al-Fikr” on Saturday the 10th of November at the Global Conference Center (GCC).
The symposium was addressed by HE Dr Suad Yousef Al Karib, State Minister of the Federal Ministry of Health, Professor Mamoun Homeida, Minister of Health of the State of Khartoum, Dr Ahmad Al-Badawi, Chairman of the Chamber of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Dr Salah Kambal, Head of Pharmaceutical Drugs Importers, Dr Salah Ibrahim, President of the General Union of Pharmacists and others.
The symposium thoroughly reviewed issues related to the contribution of the national pharmaceutical industry to the provision of medicines. The speakers also discussed the problem of medicine, in terms of import and manufacturing, and raised issues and proposed solutions to the problems related to provisions of medicines. The symposium was highly enriched by open debate and by intelligent comments.
It is worth mentioning that a Forum of Rehab Al-Fikr was established to organize a number of symposia, meetings and seminars, etc within the framework of defined objectives and goals aimed at highlighting the national outreach of the University, its involvement and interaction with the various strata of the Sudanese society, and to direct and suide the positive engagement of UMST students community. The University aspires, through the “Rehab Al-Fikr” Forum, to manifest its commitment to a well informed Responsibility strategies, policies and practices. The ultimate goal of the Forum is to establish sound measures to further extend the university outreach through intellectual, cultural and scientific activities offered through the Forum of Rehab Al-Fikr.
Since its inception the Forum has managed to organize a number of events that were heavily attended and succeeded in addressing current issues that are of huge relevance to the Sudanese public.
A Visual Part of the event
On 22 October from 10:00 to 17:00 an open day on HIV/AIDS awareness was held at the University in cooperation with the Deanship of Student Affairs and the Red Crescent Society of Khartoum State
The day was composed of two parts. The first part was mainly an education program; while the second part was composed of an exhibition which was geared towards raising awareness. The second part was concerned with focusing attention on the national AIDS guidelines, including group discussion group, lecture, experience of a PLHIV, self-counseling, self-counseling, voluntary screening, counseling and diagnosis clinic for sexually transmitted diseases, a drama on HIV and songs.
To usher the start of the new academic year 2018-2019, the University welcomed and celebrated its new students in a well conceived and organized event on Saturday the 7th of September.
The joyous celebration was launched under the patronage of the Assistant to the President of the Republic, Mr. Mousa Mohammed Ahmed. The event evolved and revolved under the theme of “Sustainability of Excellence”.
The anticipated annual event has successfully conveyed the importance of togetherness, intimacy and the value of close ties as binding characteristics among members of the university as a closely knitted community.
The gathering was addressed by Mr. Mousa Mohammed Ahmed, patron of the ceremony, who maintained that the university has distinguished itself amongst national and regional academic establishments by securing and maintaining excellence in different academic disciplines and various fields of relevant activities.
He pointed out that the student usually has the two joys: the joy of being accepted at the university, and of graduation. He stressed that he came to share this joy with the students, and he urged them to reserve no effort in achieving the desired success, and he proceeded to remind them that they are real light -bearers and true builders of the country.
Professor Mamoun Hameida, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University, welcomed the new students and outlined the academic excellence of the UMST that was obvious to be seen by everybody. He explained that the students’ desire to join the university has exceeded its capacity to accommodate all those keen on joining its ranks.
He emphasized that the university has always been admired and respected for applying rigor standards in the application of recognized regulations regarding both academic standards and behavior. He maintained that UMST has benefited immensely from observing strictness and continued to gain good reputation and to maintain continuous successes.
In his speech, Prof. Hassan Mohamed Ahmed, President of the University, spoke about the various students’ activities that take place at the university, including cultural, social and sports activities. He stressed the University’s keen interest in resolving all problems encountering its students, and highlighted its commitment and sustained effort to negotiate and overcome all the difficulties facing the students. He called on the students to exert effort and effort to achieve academic excellence through continuous, consistent and persistent pursuance of academic excellence.
He also called for active participation in the students’ activities offered by the university in the scientific, cultural and sports fields.
Also speaking at the ceremony were the President of the University Students Association, and the representative of new student. At the beginning of the ceremony, the University Chorale presented the university anthem. It is also worth mentioning that he event was also adorned by a panoramic visual display reflecting the multiplicity and diversity f the activities conducted within the university.
The Committee assigned the responsibility of organizing the celebration and honoring of the Top Hundred Students of Sudan School Certificate convened to discuss the details of organizing the event which is a joint venture between the University of Medical Sciences and Technology and the General Union of Students of Khartoum State.
The auspicious occasion which will be running for the third successive year will be held in the few coming days under the patronage of First General Engineer Abdelrahim Mohamed Hussein the Governor of Khartoum State and with honorable participation of the State Presidency.

1- Electronic Submission and Required Documents:
The original Sudan School Certificate, and the Arabic Certificate or the Foreign Certificate to be authenticated by the country of origin coupled with the authentication of the Sudanese Embassy in the country of Origin and of the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. There is also a need to secure the Equivalency certification at the General Administration of Examinations of the Federal Ministry of Education in Khartoum. For foreign certificates: IGCSE, for example, the seven subjects eligible for admission should have been obtained in a single certificate and in one year. The 11th level is required for students from within Sudan and candidates from outside Sudan (it is a prerequisite for the student to be on the advanced AS / Level) and the certificate should be authenticated by the British Council and the State Department.
3 Photos of passport size and a copy of the Birth Certificate.
The Sudanese students should provide: 1- A photocopy of the National Number. 2- Certificate of Completing the National Military Service. International students should provide a photocopy of passport.
Hepatitis B Vaccination Certificate.
A computerized statement from the Department of Admission of Higher Education to students who are candidates for general admission.
Signing the Acceptance Regulations.
2- After reviewing the certificates and ensuring that the admission requirements are met, the Admissions Office will write to the Registrar and the Financial Administration to register the student and to receive the prescribed tuition fees mentioned above.
3- The Registrars of the Faculties will oversee the medical examination and the interviews arrangements.
4- Sudanese students holding foreign certificates must sit for the Arabic language and religious education examinations: Islamic / Christian, which are prepared by the Department of Admission of Higher Education, and the results will be advanced to the students after enrolling in universities. According to the Higher Education Admission Administration, the results of those examinations are required for the authentication of university degrees upon graduation.
On Thursday the 5th of July, at the gardens of the Global Conference Center, the University organized a dinner party to acknowledge the efforts of the External Examiners and to celebrate the achievement the of Medicine and Dentistry graduates. The ceremony was attended by Professor Mamoun Homeida, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, University professors, guests, graduate students and their families.
Dr. Hafez Homeida, Vice President of the University, welcomed the External Examiners and the guests of the ceremony. He hailed the achievement of the students and emphasized the value and significance the University attach to inviting external examiners from reputed international universities to evaluate the taken by the graduate students and their curricula as well. The participation of the External Examiners, he maintained, is an ongoing testimony to the impressive progress achieved by the university. He highlighted the fact that the External Examiners were impressed by the high levels of the university graduates which are comparable with the British, Irish and other international universities.
On the other hand, Dr. Jonathan Bennett, professor at the University Hospital of Leicester, spoke on behalf of the External Examiners thanking the University for inviting him and his colleagues to evaluate the performance of the graduates’ exams for this year. He paid tribute to the quality of students and graduates and the curricula of the university emphasizing that they are compare favorably with the levels of international universities. He was highly appreciative of the warm welcome and the genuine hospitality extended to them by everybody at the university. He also praised the cultural programs that allowed them to visit prominent landmarks in Khartoum.
Representatives of the graduate students also spoke at the ceremony, expressing their pride and joy for their success and graduation. They expressed their gratitude to their professors and to the External Examiners. Everyone was totally immersed in a deservedly joyous time. During the course of the event, awards were presented by the professors, with the participation of the External Examiners, to the outstanding students. Special awards and certificates of appreciation were also presented to the student who distinguished themselves in a number of different disciplines.
We at UMST, collectively and individually, extend our warmest welcoming to the External Examiners who arrived to participate in the processes of the final Graduation Examinations of Batch 20 at the Faculty of Medicine and Batch 18 at the Faculty of Dentistry.
