Violence against women is some thing that cuts across all ages, nationalities, religions and cultures. Most of us have either experienced violence or know someone who has but still there remains a SILENCE around violence against women mainly because it more often takes place in the domestic sphere.

UMST Celebrating the International Children’s Day

On Wednesday the 21st the University celebrated the International Children’s Day. The event which was held to honor the children of Maighoma Orphanage and Taybeh Home was organized at the Runway from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. It is worth noting that he event was made possible by a generous sponsorship from Al-Nilain Company and Aztan Legal Firm.  

 

 

 

 

 

The event had boasted an exhibition and was cheered by a variety of vivid entertainment items. An appeal was also made to donate surplus of winter clothing and other items that could be of help to the children in need.

The conference was successful & was dealing with blood diseases which is problem in kurdufan.
Dr. Amin Elagib, Head dept of Sudan Education and Development Institute, Consultant Pediatrician, University of Medical Sciences & Technology, Presented a paper in the conference (Health and bio-social Aspects of children At Quran Schools (Khalwa), East Nile locality, Khartoum).
There was also a workshop on sickle cell disease mainly to the registrars and Pediatricians in North Kurdofan. The workshop discussed diagnosis and Management of sickle cell disease and the collaboration between different bodies cornering sickle cell disease in the Country.

Three Open Days for Raising Awareness on Crucial Health Issues

The Deanship of Student Affairs with the Sudanese National Organization for Patients organized three open days in collaboration with the National Blood Donation Program and Khartoum Center of Oncology.
The ordained days included:
The 1st day focused on informing the audience of the importance of blood donation. The educating program was accompanied by an exhibition highlighting cancer issues.
The 2nd day included a lecture on blood diseases and various means of protection and prevention, and that was in addition to continuation of blood donation program.
The 3rd day focused on methods of early detection and voluntary breast cancer at the Psychological Counseling Unit at the University which was conducted by specialists from the Sudanese Center for Oncology.

Rehab Al-Fikr” Organized a Symposium on Provision of Medicines

A symposium on “How the national pharmaceutical industry will contribute to the Provision of Medicines” was organized by the Forum of “Rehab Al-Fikr” on Saturday the 10th of November at the Global Conference Center (GCC).
The symposium was addressed by HE Dr Suad Yousef Al Karib, State Minister of the Federal Ministry of Health, Professor Mamoun Homeida, Minister of Health of the State of Khartoum, Dr Ahmad Al-Badawi, Chairman of the Chamber of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Dr Salah Kambal, Head of Pharmaceutical Drugs Importers, Dr Salah Ibrahim, President of the General Union of Pharmacists and others.

The symposium thoroughly reviewed issues related to the contribution of the national pharmaceutical industry to the provision of medicines. The speakers also discussed the problem of medicine, in terms of import and manufacturing, and raised issues and proposed solutions to the problems related to provisions of medicines. The symposium was highly enriched by open debate and by intelligent comments.

It is worth mentioning that a Forum of Rehab Al-Fikr was established to organize a number of symposia, meetings and seminars, etc within the framework of defined objectives and goals aimed at highlighting the national outreach of the University, its involvement and interaction with the various strata of the Sudanese society, and to direct and suide the positive engagement of UMST students community. The University aspires, through the “Rehab Al-Fikr” Forum, to manifest its commitment to a well informed Responsibility strategies, policies and practices. The ultimate goal of the Forum is to establish sound measures to further extend the university outreach through intellectual, cultural and scientific activities offered through the Forum of Rehab Al-Fikr.

Since its inception the Forum has managed to organize a number of events that were heavily attended and succeeded in addressing current issues that are of huge relevance to the Sudanese public.

Dr. Ikram Mohammed Eltayeb and another Sound Publication


[print-me] Dr.Ikram Mohammed Eltayeb Elsiddig, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy published paper in the International Journal of Current Research. The paper, which is entitled “Phytochemical study and anti-hyperglycemic effects of allium sativum bulbs growing in Sudan” is a joint effort with Yacouba Amina Djamila and 2Amna El Hassan Hama of the Department of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Medical Sciences and Technology and of the Department of Pharmacology, and Amna El Hassan Hamad Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research Institute, Khartoum.
