UMST signed on Saturday the 29th of September a memorandum of understanding and cooperation with the Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore – Italy – to launch the Global MBA Impact in Entrepreneurship with full awareness of its huge impact on the industrial landscape in Sudan. The project was launched with the endorsement of the Italian Embassy in Sudan and the support of the Italian Agency of Cooperation and Development. The occasion, which was held at the Global Conference Center (GCC), was organized under the patronage of Dr Mousa Mohammed Karama, Minister of Industry and Trade.
Dr Abu Al-Bashir, Minister of State at the Ministry of Industry and Trade attended the occasion on behalf of Dr Mousa Karama, and subsequently addressed the meeting. The ceremony was also attended by Professor Hassan Mohammed Ahmed, President of the University, Fabrizio Lobasso, Italian Ambassador in Khartoum, Vincenzo Racalbotto President of the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development, and Dr. Mohammed Faraj, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration. They invariably provided invaluable information and intelligent insights in their well received deliveries at the meetinging.
They hailed the joint Global MBA program as an opportunity to create a network of cooperation between the Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and UMST. In addition to the reputable academic establishments, the project is also supported by the efforts of the industrial communities in Italy and Sudan. And it has been recognized by all participants as the program with its entrepreneurship leaning and orientation will ultimately succeed in creating jobs in both Italy and Sudan.
It is worth mentioning that this initiative is the first and only partnership between the Italian Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and a Sudanese university. Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore by committing efforts and resources to this joint academic venture with the University of Medical Sciences and Technology is fully acknowledging the abilities and capabilities of UMST that set it apart from other Sudanese centers of learning.

The workshop is mainly to the Teaching staff of university, to show them the different methods of assessment and student evaluation. Different Topics were discussed including role of the teacher, Criteria of a good test, small group and large group teaching, how to construct an MCQ (one-best answer).
Also how to conduct Objective Structured Clinical Examination and practical examination- Other exams e. g Structured Short Essay questions (SSEQ) and Outlines of Blue Print were also discussed and group discussion.
An international conference envisaged and organized in the spirit of sharing and learning from each other, saw delegates from 110 universities and 30 organisations from around the world convened at the University of Limerick to discuss community empowerment for health. The delegates who came from a range of backgrounds gathered to discuss how to create opportunities for others within their communities, to become more informed by giving them the confidence, skills, resources, and power to shape and influence their own health.
The main outcome of the conference, according to one of the main organizers, Dr Khalifa Elmusharaf, was a Limerick declaration on community empowerment. He proceeded to emphasize that the Conference ‘declares that community empowerment goes beyond the traditional methods of listening, information sharing and consultation’.
The Conference ‘involves a change in power relations and enabling people to have more control, and responsibility, for their own health’, according to Dr Elmusharaf. And its declaration, he maintains, is a ‘call of action on educational institutes and organizations worldwide to lead the change process for community empowerment and social accountability.’
Both Dr Khalifa Elmusharaf and Dr Anca Minescu, the Assistant Dean International at the Faculty of Education and Health Science at the University of Limerick, described the Conference as ‘a resounding success’.
It is worth noting that Dr Khalifa Elmusharaf, who is a Senior Lecturer in Public Health at the Graduate Entry Medical School at University of Limerick is a notable graduate of UMS.
UMST Web Administrator at the Website and Information Unit at the university Eng. Ahmed Abobker was selected within the committee of the development of the Standard Website for Sudanese Universities. The committee was formed by the (ASU) Association of Sudanese Universities.
The committee was formed of top information technology engineers in several universities in Sudan and specialists in the design and development of the website, and its management in terms of performance and appearance and operating systems and servers suitable for these websites.
Keeping pace with the global technological development, and in order to preserve the appearance of Sudanese universities in the outside world. This work is due to the universities’ access to their content, academic performance and various activities to the world, to reach the global performance of the Sudanese universities and in turn to nominate them to enter the international universities classification.

To usher the start of the new academic year 2018-2019, the University welcomed and celebrated its new students in a well conceived and organized event on Saturday the 7th of September.
The joyous celebration was launched under the patronage of the Assistant to the President of the Republic, Mr. Mousa Mohammed Ahmed. The event evolved and revolved under the theme of “Sustainability of Excellence”.
The anticipated annual event has successfully conveyed the importance of togetherness, intimacy and the value of close ties as binding characteristics among members of the university as a closely knitted community.
The gathering was addressed by Mr. Mousa Mohammed Ahmed, patron of the ceremony, who maintained that the university has distinguished itself amongst national and regional academic establishments by securing and maintaining excellence in different academic disciplines and various fields of relevant activities.
He pointed out that the student usually has the two joys: the joy of being accepted at the university, and of graduation. He stressed that he came to share this joy with the students, and he urged them to reserve no effort in achieving the desired success, and he proceeded to remind them that they are real light -bearers and true builders of the country.
Professor Mamoun Hameida, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University, welcomed the new students and outlined the academic excellence of the UMST that was obvious to be seen by everybody. He explained that the students’ desire to join the university has exceeded its capacity to accommodate all those keen on joining its ranks.
He emphasized that the university has always been admired and respected for applying rigor standards in the application of recognized regulations regarding both academic standards and behavior. He maintained that UMST has benefited immensely from observing strictness and continued to gain good reputation and to maintain continuous successes.
In his speech, Prof. Hassan Mohamed Ahmed, President of the University, spoke about the various students’ activities that take place at the university, including cultural, social and sports activities. He stressed the University’s keen interest in resolving all problems encountering its students, and highlighted its commitment and sustained effort to negotiate and overcome all the difficulties facing the students. He called on the students to exert effort and effort to achieve academic excellence through continuous, consistent and persistent pursuance of academic excellence.
He also called for active participation in the students’ activities offered by the university in the scientific, cultural and sports fields.
Also speaking at the ceremony were the President of the University Students Association, and the representative of new student. At the beginning of the ceremony, the University Chorale presented the university anthem. It is also worth mentioning that he event was also adorned by a panoramic visual display reflecting the multiplicity and diversity f the activities conducted within the university.
