UMST to Participate in Intl Conference on Medicinal Plants


A  Joint Team of staff members and students from the Departments of Pharmacology and Pharmacognosy of the Faculty of Pharmacy under the sponsorship and support of  the University of Medical Sciences & Technology (UMST) is participating in this year’s 17th International Conference on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (ICMAP).
The conference will take place in Penang, Malaysia December 34, 2015.
Four Oral presentations will be given by UMST’s representing body.
The University’s staff members Amna Bashir Medani, Samia M A Elbadawi and Hassan A K will present a talk on Toxicity of Cymbopogon Proximus (maharaib) Oil Extract to New Zealand Rabbits.

Amna Bashir Medani, Samia M A Elbadawi, Ahmed E Amin, on Toxicity of Acacia Nilotica (garad) to Nubian Goats.

Ikram Mohamed Eltayeb Elsiddig, Abdel Khalig Muddather, Hiba Abdel Rahman Ali and Saad Mohamed Hussein Ayoub will present a joint oral presentation on In Vitro Susceptibility of M. Mycetomatis to the Extracts of Anogeissus Leiocarpus Leaves.

UMST student Samar Saadeldin Abdelmotalab Omer will present research on Phytochemical Screening, Antioxidant Activity, Lipid Profile Effect of Citrus Reticulata Fruit Peel, Zingiber Officinale Rhizome and Sesamum Indicum Seed Extracts. She will be joined by Ikram Mohamed Eltayeb Elsiddig, Amna Bashir Medani and Saad Mohammed Hussein Ayoub.

Fellow University student, Hibat Allah A G A will give a talk on Phytochemical Screening, Antioxidant Assessment and Hepatoprotective Activity of Extracts of Coriandrum Sativum L. on Wistar Rats, along with Ikram Mohamed Eltayeb Elsiddig, Amna Bashir Medani and Saad Mohammed Hussein Ayoub.

The ICMAP 2015: 17th International Conference on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants aims to bring together leading academic scientists,researchers and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results about all aspects of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants. It also provides the premier interdisciplinary forum for researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns, practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted in the field of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants.
