The Faculty of Radiology Sciences in collaboration with the Sudan Education and Development Institute {SEDI}, the Master Degree of Advanced Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology, Ian Donald, and the Department of Medical Imaging and Radiology Sciences at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, have embarked on an ultrasound course from the 5th to the 10th May at the Global Conference Center (GCC).

The course has begun on Saturday morning, and was attended by Dr. Hafiz Homeida, Acting President of the University, Professor Nazir Osman, Dean of the Faculty of Radiology, Dr. Amin Al-Aqeb, Director of SEDI and Dr. Helmi Nour, Director of the Master Degree of Advanced Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology.

The theoretical sessions of the course will continue to supervised and moderated by Dr. Barbara Van Dyk, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Medical Imaging &Radiology Sciences of the University of Johannesburg. The course is attended by MSc students of radiology and ultrasound at various centers in Khartoum State, and will be followed by practical training at the Academy Teaching Hospital in Khartoum.

Professor Nazir Osman, Dean of the Faculty of Radiology Sciences, said in a press statement that the organization of the University of Medical Sciences and Technology of this training course in the field of ultrasound aims to raise the level of professional performance of the specialists and the students of Masters Program in Ultrasound Advanced Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology.

He maintained that the training course throughout the week will combine theoretical studies and practical exercises in the field of ultrasound, and both the course and the exposure to foreign experiences will be of great benefit to the students in the framework of the university’s efforts to develop knowledge this vital diagnostic field enjoyed remarkable progress in the last few years.

The Dean of the Faculty of Radiology Sciences explained that the course will include the training of the faculty of the university on how to develop the examinations and how to write proposals for graduation research and projects. He confirmed that the final day of the course on Thursday will witness a workshop to develop the curriculum of the Faculty of Radiology Sciences. It is anticipated that final day will be attended by the deans of the faculties of Radiology Science at the universities in the state of Khartoum; it will also be attended by the Secretary General of the National Council of Medical and Health Professions.
