UMST and General Students Union of Khartoum State Meet to Plan Honoring Outstanding Students of Sudan School Certificate

Professor Mamoun Homeida, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University, held a preparatory meeting with Hajo Mohammed Ahmed, President of the General Students Union of Khartoum State, and a number of his colleagues to discuss the arrangements for honoring the outstanding students in the Sudanese certificate. UMST, in collaboration with the General Students Union of Khartoum State, has been in the habit of organizing annual celebratory event to recognize the achievement of outstanding students in Sudan School Certificate.

Professor Homeida, in his capacity as Chairman of the University Board of Trustees, emphasized that the honoring program sits comfortably within the framework of the students’ summer work program, and as such it represents an integral part of the university’s interest in the students of the Sudan School Certificate. Professor Homeida was also quick to stress the importance of attracting media attention in order to shed light on the joint endeavors designed to honoring and motivating the students, and acknowledging the role played by their families in securing their successes.

The Chairman of the University Board of Trustees eloquently and succinctly highlighted the objectives of the joint program and revealed the immense sense of happiness and pride he personally feels and shares with everybody at the university in embracing such an event. He was quite adamant that the university is the most appropriate place for celebrating success especially after the opening the Global Conference Center. He also took the opportunity to encourage the students to visit the religious schools sponsored by the University disclosing that the university vaccinates their students against hepatitis as it does with all university students. Professor Homeida also mentioned that the University launched a campaign to vaccinate 1200 citizens against hepatitis.

On his part Hago Ahmed Ahmed, the President of the General Students Union of Khartoum State expressed his appreciation of the program of honoring the outstanding students in the Sudan School Certificate organized by the university in cooperation with the Union during the past few years. He praised the role of UMST in launching the initiative of honoring the outstanding students through a provision of scholarships and offering of gifts to the first hundred students from Khartoum State.

He also expressed the desire of the Union to have the event organized under the patronage of HE Lt. Gen. Bakri Hassan Salih, the Vice President and Prime Minister, and with the presence of Lt. Gen. Engineer Abdulrahim Mohammed Hussein, Governor of Khartoum state.

It is noteworthy that the University, in its annual celebration of outstanding students, offers a number of valuable gifts such as scholarships, laptops and smart phones, in addition to certificates of appreciation.
