SEDI Doctors to Participate in Paediatrics EU Congress


Physicians from UMST University’s Sudan Education & Development Institute (SEDI) will be participating in the European Academy of Paediatrics, Paedatric Section of U.E.M.S (Union of European Medical Specialists) Congress and MasterCourse 2015.

Dr. Amin Alagib Mohamed, Assistant Professor of Paediatrics, Dr Rabih Brair and Dr Mohamed Faisal Elmedani, Department of Paediatrics,Faculty of Medicine, will be speaking at the event in Oslo, Norway 17-20 September,2015

The doctors will present research on the ‘Management of Children with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) At Mandela Therapeutic Center Khartoum’.

The Mandela therapeutic center serves a population of over 58,000 of poor socioeconomic standard. It is run mainly by Almanar NGO staff.They care for children who were discharged from hospitals, as well as those admitted into the program as a result of screening children from the local area.

The European Academy of Paediatrics exists to promote the health of children and young people in Europe. It aims to improve standards in training, service and research and to represent the professional interests of paediatricians in the EU. It incorporates the section of paediatrics of the European Union of Medical Specialists and therefore has influence in the political arena to advocate for children and young people as well as for the profession.

The event is held to promote exchange of information and ideas in the paediatric field and update the professionals taking care of children.
