Public Health Symposium – Building Capacity in Injury Prevention and Control Research in Sudan

As part of the efforts associated with public health and health programs at the Universityunder the title “Building Capacity in Injury Prevention and Control Research in Sudan“.
The symposium was lead by Prof. John Mark of the University of Maryland, Baltimore, USA, and Prof. Mohamed El Shennawy of Ain Shams University, Egypt.

The occasion was a realization of the tripartite initiative between the aforementioned universities. It was also a vivid representation and effective implementation of the efforts linking public health programs at the university with Khartoum State Ministry of Health and the General Directorate of Traffic in the areas of accidents and Injuries, which is an invaluable contribution to the capacity-building project in the field of injuries.
The preparation for the symposium was secured mainly through the meticulous preparation and of elaborate discussion of several issues related to the priorities of research in accidents and injuries in Sudan. The preparations resulted in the development of a strategic plan conducive towards the implement a number of projects annually. In order to implement this plan, eight researches were conducted in the field of accidents and injuries. The symposium was attended by a number of students of the Master of Public Health and the Master of Family Medicine, and bachelor level students from the Faculty of Dentistry.
