UMST extends its congratulations to Batch 19 Medicine and Batch 17 Dentistry students who have successfully completed their undergraduate education.
The two batch’s are the first to finish the final semester examinations and will officially graduate later this year.
Best overall medicine student was awarded to Tamador Elsir Abuhassan and dentistry student Hala Ahmed Eltijani.
The students were examined by external examiners who praised the finalists, their respective faculties and the university overall.
Dr. Maher Mustafa Hamed, Consultant Physician and Clinical Director for Acute Medicine at James Cook University Hospital, UK, gave recognition to UMST’s punctuality in all aspects during the examinations.
“The students communicative skills were very good and [they] were of an overall top standard,” he said during the Senate meeting discussing the results on Thursday 6 July, 2017.
Professor of Internal Medicine, Dr. Fathy Zakarya Ali El- Sewy from Alexandria University added: “The overall procedure of the examinations was great, with the clinical exam in particular being really good.”
Dr. Robert Leo Joseph Boon, Consultant general paediatrician at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, said the students performed at a high standard, adding that it was “a testament to the teaching skills” of the faculty.
“The great standard of graduates is reflected in the registrars I meet and work with in the UK, who are among some of the best,” Dr. Boon added.
Professor Mohammed Ahmed Ali El- Sheikh, Professor of Obs. & Gynae and Head of UNESCO chair in Bioethics at the University of Khartoum highly praised the placement semester introduced by UMST this year which gives the students hands-on experience as a house officer.
The faculty of dentistry students were assessed by external examiners Dr. Ahmed Alsemani Abdelsalam from Trinity College in Dublin and Dr. Saad Abdelaziz Elnazhan from King Saud University, KSA. Both examiners expressed their overall happiness with the students and standard of examination.
The best performing students will be honored by the university during a dinner party held at UMST’s gardens. Faculty and family will also attend the prize giving ceremony.
