Department of Medicine

The Academy Teaching Hospital provides admission services for all general medicine cases. The medical department has three major medical wards run by 6 general medicine units and 6 consultants and 8 senior specialists with capacity of 80 beds. The Department of Medicine is widely recognized as a center of excellence for training medical registrars. In addition to the admission services, the Department of Medicine runs 12 outpatient clinics which provide services for more than 400 patients per month.
Gastroenterology Services
The Academy Teaching Hospital provides Gastroenterology Services that incorporate comprehensive care for patients having GI problems. Both medical and surgical teams work together to manage patient’s medical problems. The Center offers the most advanced, safest, and evidence-based medical and surgical treatments, which include an Endoscopy Unit, equipped with state-of-the -art devices for upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, Colonoscopy and Sigmoidoscopy. The center is a recognized training unit for medical registrars and provides competent and effective admission and outpatient services
Nephrology Services
The Academy Teaching Hospital provides renal services which include haemodialysis unit that provides dialysis services for 180 patients in addition to hospital admissions and outpatient clinics that deal with patients with acute and chronic Kidney diseases. The Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and plasma exchange services are also provided for patient in the ICU.
Neurology clinic:
The Academy Teaching Hospital provides neurology services in outpatient clinic run by neurology consultant and 2 senior specialists.
Asthma clinic:
The Academy Teaching Hospital provides an outpatient clinic competent and effective enough to ensure proper follow up of patients with bronchial Asthma. The clinic is run by respiratory consultant and 2 senior specialists.
Dermatology Services:
The Academy Teaching Hospital provides dermatology services, with the capacity of 4 outpatient clinics per week.
