UMST, University of Genoa Award First Laser Dentistry Diplomas


Graduation certificates in Laser Dentistry were awarded by the University of Genoa to 48 Sudanese students on Saturday 11 November,2017, at Corinthia Hotel, Khartoum.

Participants from all over the country and region were awarded a diploma after completing a one year course of study designed to provide evidence-based core knowledge in laser use in dentistry and to refine practical skills.

The fellowship programme is the first of it kind in the country and is the result of a fruitful cooperation between the University of Genoa, Italy and the University of Medical Sciences and Technology (UMST).

Relations were brokered by the Italian Embassy in Khartoum, in close contact with Professor Stefano Benedicenti, in charge of foreign relations at the University of Genoa,  Doctor Jihad Habli, coordinator for MENA region and Doctor Mohamed Obeid, Coordinator of the programme.

UMST’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees’ Professor Mamoun Homeida and the President of UMST, Professor Hassan Ahmed were also present at the ceremony, together with Mrs. Valeria Romare, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Italy in Khartoum. “We trust this is the first successful experience of a long list in the framework of the development of more and more cultural and scientific relations between Italy and Sudan.”
